Tools and Programs That Digital Nomads Use

There isn’t a definitive list since the tools you need will depend on your field and career path. A virtual assistant, for example, uses different tools than a video editor or content creator.

That said, I’ll share my favorite programs and apps that I use daily as a digital nomad. You can start integrating them into your daily life to organize your projects, and who knows? One day, you will come across these platforms in a job listing and already be familiar with them.

Notion is a project management, database, and note-taking software that allows users to handle multiple projects in one place. Personally, I use it to organize my life, travels, and work. The platform also lets you add people to your workspace to collaborate on projects together.

Ideal for editing long-form video content (YouTube) or projects that require advanced editing, graphics, and color correction. ($20.99 USD/month)

Capcut Best for short video editing, including stories, reels, and shorts. ($74.99 USD/year)

Trello is a user-friendly office software designed for task management and collaborative project organization. It’s perfect if you feel overwhelmed with tasks but struggle to stay organized. I personally use it for my individual projects, but it’s widely used in team settings as well. I use the free version.

Alternative platforms: ClickUp and Asana

The go-to tool if you use Gmail, allowing you to store all your files in one place. I use it mainly for documents, spreadsheets, charts, and graphs. It’s also a great cloud storage option, though I personally prefer physical storage. I have the 200 GB plan. ($4.39 USD/month)

One of the most popular and widely used platforms for digital work, especially in content creation. Founded in Australia in 2012, Canva was designed to simplify graphic design. ($14.99 USD/month)
